If you lived it, you’ll recognize it. If you didn’t, you’ll scroll right past it.
That’s the point.
My Story
How this started
My name is Jacqueline. I was born and raised in the Bronx.
Soundview first, then Allerton Avenue. My New York was a specific set of blocks, and almost none of it made it onto a t-shirt.
What you could buy elsewhere is the skyline, the Statue of Liberty, the yellow letters everybody uses.
But you couldn’t find anything about the token you dropped in the turnstile, or the coffee cup with the Greek lettering, or the games you played in the street until the lights came on. Those things were real and they were disappearing, and nobody was making anything about them.
So that’s when I decided to start creating them. One object at a time. I treat each one like a treasured memory I want to keep forever. Something I can show my children and grandchildren.
This is my small business. I’m a one-person brand.
I get the ideas, I create the designs, I write the pages, I answer the emails. Most of my customers left New York years ago, but they tell me the same thing over and over: I forgot that existed.
That’s the whole business.
